We believe that a Christ-centered
education is vitally important for Christian families.
We know that the cost may be prohibitive for some
families, and it is our desire to come alongside those who
need assistance. Therefore, we have developed a
Financial Aid program to provide tuition assistance for RCS
families:
Financial
Aid Application
1) Scholarship Grants -
Rainier Christian Schools encourages annual scholarship
'grants' to help defray tuition costs of our students.
(These 'grants' may be tax deductible to the donor, provided
they are not designated for a specific student or family.)
2) Financial Aid Program
a) Rainier Christian Schools
may offer financial aid, normally ranging from 5-25% of
tuition, to qualifying families that apply for such aid.
Financial aid is reviewed and granted annually -- that
is, families must reapply each year and the level of aid
given in any one year does not guarantee aid in subsequent
years. A variety of factors may influence the level of
financial aid provided to any particular family, including,
but not limited to: the overall amount of aid available,
the number of financial aid applicants, timeliness of application,
etc. The overall level of financial aid provided by
Rainier Christian Schools is subject to availability of
funding.
b) All families, including those in full-time Christian ministry (e.g., pastors
and missionaries) and employees with children enrolled in grades K-12 may apply
for financial aid. Children must be legal dependents. This may include natural
born children, legally adopted children, and step-children who have their legal
residence with and/or are wholly dependent upon the RCS employee for maintenance
and support. Students must be enrolled or have submitted an
application for enrollment and paid the application fee.
c) The Financial Aid Application Form
must be submitted, along with a copy of the prior years Federal Income Tax Return (1040 with
all applicable schedules). We encourage a cover letter with any additional statements
or documents that may help explain past, present, or future events that could
have an impact on the applicant's financial situation.
d) The above information must be submitted to the Administrative Office by April
30th of each year. The information submitted will be kept in strict confidence.
A Financial Aid Committee appointed by the District Board will review,
analyze and allocate financial aid, as appropriate. Notification of financial
aid 'awards' will be made on or about May 20th of each year.
e) Families receiving financial aid will receive a credit on their annual tuition,
with a corresponding reduction in monthly payments. Financial aid, in the
case of early withdrawals, will be pro-rated based on the same schedule
as for tuition, as explained in policy # 2.003.
f) Financial aid may be discontinued for a variety of reasons, including but
not limited to the following:
i) Parents' failure to keep tuition and other fee
payments current.
ii) Student's behavior resulting in repeated, serious
disciplinary actions.
iii) Student's failure to achieve minimum academic
performance standards.
g) Those who work full-time in a Christian ministry (e.g., pastors, teachers
and/or administrators in other Christian schools, and missionaries) may be
eligible for an additional 10% over and above regular financial aid granted.
Note: There is not an automatic 'discount' for full-time Christian service.
A financial aid application must be submitted, and a level of financial need
determined, in order to be considered for this additional amount.
h) The Financial Aid Committee will attempt to make fair and equitable decisions
regarding eligibility for and level of financial aid to be granted. However,
the committee may make exceptions, on a case-by-case basis, regarding
the aid given to any particular family. Such exceptions would be limited
to the current year being considered and must remain within the overall financial
aid limits established within the budget for the year under consideration.
